WHO WE ARE:

The purpose of this site is to clarify and voice our concerns as Great Falls citizens about the proposed artificial turf field at Leo Santaballa field.

The risks: Serious environmental and health concerns. Great Falls is located on fractured bedrock in a community where many people rely on wells for their primary drinking water.  Essentially, whatever comes off of the artificial field will go directly into the creeks, lakes and groundwater of our watershed.  The substances used in the field, particularly the crumb rubber infill made of recycled tires, contains potentially hazardous chemicals and heavy metals that can leach into the water.  These toxins will destroy our local aquatic ecosystem, possibly all the way from the Great Falls Library to the Potomac River.
